My buddy Todd's grandfather died on Monday and his funeral was last night.
His grandfather and grandmother lived with Todd's mother. Todd's mom always invites us over to her place for holiday parties (Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving... anything with food) and his grandparents were always in the middle of everything. They loved having people around.
His grandfather was 90. Extremely nice, funny, and really knew how to build and make things to last. On occasion, he would get a bit mixed up and talk to me about how things were with the war as if I was on leave from the service (not Iraq, WWII).
Anyway, the funeral was sad as they usually are, but there was a lot of laughter too. Bill was in a Hawaiian shirt and shorts. He had lottery tickets with him (he always played and was determined to buy a car when he won).
When we left, we noticed this Taxidermist storefront across the street. We all got a kick out of that.
I wish the picture was clearer, but it was hard to take the picture with my phone and not get reflections from the street lights. Plus there was someone still in there in the back and I wanted to take the pic and get out of the way (not sure why I was uneasy). We wondered where one finds a hippo to shoot in Florida. Todd said a zoo and that made the most sense. There was also an elephant foot stool (that's the striped thing at the bottom).
I posted this song last year. Repeats never hurt.
Who was your favorite band when you were in 8th grade?
There were 2 - Alice Cooper and the Beastie Boys
Appetite for Destruction was released during that time and I remember that was a big deal since GnR was "different" from what had been popular for the past 3-4 years. Personally I was also listening to a lot of Beatles, Led Zeppelin, and Aerosmith. My friends were listening to RUN-DMC and the hair bands (Poison and the like).
Yoko Ono is suing Lennon Murphy, lead singer of the band Lennon, for "tarnishing" John Lennon's name amongst other things. What are your thoughts on Yoko's latest lawsuit?
The world should counter-sue Yoko for the exact same thing.
