I spent most of the day Saturday in bed after visiting the optomitrist.  VH1 was re-airing a multi-part documentary on Metal.  Quiet Riot was featured in the sections that I was awake for- Kevin DuBrow was being interviewed.  Had no idea he was only 52.  I always thought he was much older because of the hairline.  Saw on VH1 that he fixed that hairline.

Mr. Wizard (Don Herbert) died today.

This was one of my favorite shows in Nickelodeon growing up.  The concepts and everything that he demonstrated really helped me in my elementary and middle school science classes.

My dad watched the first version of his show.  I always thought that was cool.

I just found out that the series is on DVD.  Wee Tiki needs to see these.

With an intentional nod to an old LA Style track, the Godfather of Soul has died.  I know it's cliche, but today's music wouldn't be quite the same without his influence.

He's not one that I can say "will be missed" because his music is going to live on for generations.

Peter Boyle has died.  Funny, funny, FUNNY, actor.  I never got into Everybody Loves Raymond, but I knew Peter Boyle from the movies.  Especially Young Frankenstein.  The Puttin' on the Ritz bit never fails to crack me up.
