I still haven't seen this movie. I will, though.
I do remember seeing the poster in the local mom and pop video rental shop back in the day. The image of Santa descending into the chimney with an arm sticking out holding an axe will forever be burned into my mind. It is for that reason that I must see this movie... and probably why I haven't to date.

Alice Cooper- although I was too young to buy albums, his appearance on The Muppet Show was my first visual exposure (I remember hearing him on the radio before this). Been a huge fan ever since.
In related news- I'm 2 degrees away from the man.
Bubblegumfink has posted a series of faux Topp's bubblegum cards based on the original Friday the 13th Movie.
In related events- I had the opportunity to meet 3 of the people associated with the movie this weekend. More to come on that.
2 of those 3 people are in this card.
Fantastic cast:
I love the design of the posters.
Here is the first trailer for the film. It looks like it is primarily Rodriguez's "Planet Terror" half.
Not a "great" movie, but a fun mix of horror and humor.
What people don't realize is that stuff like this goes down all of the time in Louisville, the film's setting. All kinds of weird hospitals and military people running around. Lots of Zombies too. Especially in the Deloitte & Touche office area. The It isn't an entirely true story, but stuff like this happens.
Back in the day I remember seeing the trailer for it in the theaters or on TV. I really remember the "Partytime" song and the Tar Man Zombie (above).
It wasn't until a few years later that I finally got to see the film on Showtime or Cinemax. Loved it.
It has been a number of years since I've watched it. I'll have to add it to my Netflix queue and share it with the gang.
Afterall, it is the season for a fun zombie movie and with Lipman's reports of Zombies in the area, it may just be the right time to watch it.
Halloween is upon us once again. It is by far my favorite holiday.
Oddio Overplay still has their "Ghouls With Attitude" compilation available (and it is FREE!) It's great forgotten 50's/60's/70's Halloween novelty tunes, promo ads, and b-movie trailers (like Vampire Playgirls). Right up my alley.
Some of the tracks are worth several repeat listens. Others... not so much.
When this first came out, I gave copies to my buddies Jay and Jason. Of course, they loved it as much as I. The three of us decided that track 9 on CD1, "Monster Surfer" by the The Abominable Surfmen, was the best track of the bunch.
Here is why:
- Very bad Bela Lugosi immitation. It is a well known fact that all monsters from the 60's who could talk would either sound like Bela or Boris. Lots of examples of this on "Ghouls With Attitude".
- It is about surfing
- The monotone singing of the backup singers
- The lyrics are hilariously silly
- They screw up towards the end and start cracking up, but the main singer just keeps going and the back up guys try.
- It can drive an intern crazy
Jay and Jason also liked to sing. Typically it was 80's songs like "Take On Me", but now it was the "Monster Surfer". So they would not only play the song for Kristen, they would sing along too. The joy.
That was several years ago. Kristen is now out managing F&B somewhere in the World. Jason has moved to St. Louis and deals with meth heads and bats managing his Lowe's store. Jay is still down the hall from me, but now in an office pretending to work while fawning over Keira Knightley.
All of us have songs that bring back good and bad memories. "Monster Surfer" reminds me of intern torture. I miss those days.
