A ton of artists were asked to decorate Darth Vader masks for Celebration IV.
Here are some of my favorites (the complete collection is available on the "Official Star Wars Blog's photos" Flickr acct).
Went to the Magic Kingdom yesterday to get my haircut. The barbershop was packed with people. Sometimes the crowds are due to first-time hair cuts (all members of extended families must view these I guess). Other times it is a bunch of little kids who only want colored gel in their hair and have no interest in getting an actual cut. Anyway, the line was out the door (which kills me because people can wait inside) and there really wasn't anyway to tell if the people were outside were with people inside, if they had actually queued up, or what.
I just walked around the park and took some pictures- jumped on Peter Pan with a 5 min wait as well as The Haunted Mansion (I almost had a stretch room to myself, but 3 others ran in just before the butler closed the door).
I also wanted to experiment with the "Match Color" with famous paintings technique recently featured in MAKE (I've used this before, just not with the famous subject matter) and pairing it with some Lomo actions that I've been tweaking for years.
I like the results.
As for my hair- I went back this morning and then walked the loop of the park before heading over to Epcot to ride "Living with the Land" (haven't been on it since they automated the spiel) and the rehabbed Mexico boat ride with the Three Caballeros.
Raise your mug and "Suck 'em Up!"
I'm quite happy with the new feature. On the other hand, I can see that this could open the possibility of VOX becoming as visually sucktastic as MySpace. I really liked the themes that the 6A team has released throughout beta. I liked most of the themes that were picked for the contest. One of the things that I like/liked about VOX was that it had a very consistent look and feel.
I felt that some of the contest entries were pretty bad and those are the types of things that I fear will start popping up on various blogs.
I played around with the new feature a bit this evening. It is pretty easy to use.. which is good, but "easy to use" also makes it "easy to upload a banner that will make my eyes bleed".
I threw my banner together using assets I designed for a podcast web site that were never used (which is why the tikis are holding iPods). He is actually the little bruddah of this tiki I carved a few years ago for my buddy Steven's home tiki bar.
The banner still needs work. Maybe not. I'm my biggest critic and I'm rarely happy with a final result (the "final" is usually only the final due to a deadline- I find myself going back to old projects and tweaking them all of the time.) I'm not a big fan of 'orange'. It still needs something orange or not.
I hate sounding condescending, but I really hope that those who struggle with designing will stick to the provided themes/banners.

Is there any better mode of transportation than a Monorail?
Steven came over with his 362 day old son Athan on Sat. His wife was out facing the Yeti with a bunch of 12 year old girls for the day.
Athan came waddling in and made a beeline for my Lock, Shock, and Barrel big figs and then headed over to one of my tikis. After looking at it for a bit, he leaned in and gave it a kiss.
His dad has trained him well. I will be extra impressed if that training includes not playing with Tiki mugs. The next year will show how well that goes.
